Storify is shutting down – How do you find a replacement solution?
Storify, the social media curation solution, announced a few days ago that it is shutting down after many years of service. Once a staple for newsdesks and journalists by providing them with a way to arrange and publish social media in a feed, has during the last few years last its position. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have created their own tools which has gradually rendered Storify less potent.
Despite this, Storify will be missed by many users who have come to rely on it to bring social media engagement into their news. For all of these users, below are key milestones to be aware of:
December 12th – Storify announces that no new accounts will be available
May 1st – Users will no longer be able to create stories
May 16th Storify will shut down and all services will be cancelled
Storify will however continue to live, albeit in a different from. Adobe have integrated Storify into it’s LiveFyre platform, where users will have access to Storify 2. This means that users who subscribe to LiveFyre will still be able to use Storify. However, it’s important that past users export content from the platform before the site is shut down. A guide for doing this can be found here.
Additionally, users will need to determine if subscribing to LiveFyre is the right route to go just to get access to Storify’s social media curation features.
LiveFyre is a large, and for many users too expensive platform. For these users, the closure of Storify means they need to find an alternative solution that both provides the features they loved in Storify and meets their budget requirements.
